My Wonderful Wife!

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

So I don't blog much anymore, but I do keep an eye on things, and I really just wanted to brag on my wife for just a minute. We don't necessarily see eye to eye on everything, but she is my lobster none the less.

The person behind this blog means the absolute world to me. She has a faith that can't be shattered, patience enough to watch grass grow, and a pulse on other peoples feelings that is amazing.

As we live through this tragedy, I think the thing that makes me the most sad today is not seeing Jennifer as a mom anymore. She was absolutely amazing, no matter the hour, no matter the mess, and no matter the problem. Lilly was her true joy. She is returning to normal, but there is a piece of her that she will not be reunited with until she leaves this earth to join Lilly in Heaven. However, her love for the Lord, and resolve to make good of this situation has amazed me, and kept me going.

So for all of you that keep up with us, I ask that you say a special prayer for Jennifer. A prayer to lift her up, a prayer that she may be a mother again, and a prayer for her to have happiness equal to that happiness that she has given to me.

Honey thank you for being my wife, my rolemodel and my lobster.

  1. As I read this, my eyes fill with tears. Richard, I have known you for a long time and I know the amazing person that you are. I don't know Jennifer as well, but I do know that if you call her amazing and wonderful then she must be every bit of that! I have said this numerous times to numerous people, your wife, is truly inspiring, uplifting, and wonderful which I strive to be. Jennifer is a lucky girl to call you husband, but it sounds like you are even more lucky to call her wife. You both are in my prayers daily and in my thoughts always.

  6. That is very sweet.

....as you guys go through this tragedy, when you are ready...there is a book called "Anna" by William Loizeaux.

It's....something you may be able to identify with. It's a book...that reads like a journal, about a father whose daughter died as an infant, and his processing of the grief, and how he sees his wife, and how she processes the grief. It's just....a personal history for the author that may be helpful in that "I feel that way too" way.

  7. Well said Richard. I speak for all of Jennifer's friends when I say that we are so thankful she has a loving and Christ-centered husband like you in the midst of all this.
You are both still parents in my eyes - Jennifer will always be my first Mommy friend :) We love you both so much and are praying for you continually.

  10. Richard, Thanks for sharing your sweet words about Jennifer with us. We all love her so much and are thankful for her strength, friendship and amazed by her faith. We also love you so much and are thankful for your friendship and courage. God MADE you two for each other, we have always known that and it is beautiful to see in a time of life you never imagined having to face how your love for each other is growing and prospering. I THANK GOD for you two! Love, J

  11. I came across your blog on Lilly's original site just a couple of days after she went to be with Jesus. I was trolling the Internet, looking for the meaning behind the song "Held" by Natalie Grant and links to your blog popped up everywhere. I know your pain must be unspeakable; the fact that you have turned TO our Savior rather than away from Him is also unspeakable. So many people would lose their faith and you have taken opportunity to grow closer to the Father. I pray for you every day and I check on your blog often. God is going to use you and your testimony for great things; He already has!

When things are miserable and your grief is overwhelming, take comfort in knowing the God knows what it is like to lose a child as well and, better yet, He knows the joy of being reunited! Your Lilly is playing at Jesus' feet, waiting for her mommy and daddy and she is so proud of you!

From a fellow sister in Christ,

  13. This post brought me to tears. I am a stranger who reads your blog often and have followed since I heard of Lilly's passing thru a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend. Jennifer is a lucky woman to have such an amazing husband. As I read your post, I can see the pride beaming off your chest. I hope my husband looks at me with the eyes you have for your wife. Please know your family is always in my prayers.

  14. Both of you have been such pillars of strength! The love of our Father and his son, Jesus Christ will continue to lift you up during times of sadness and dispair. I've often said, "A couple that prays together stays together!" Through faith and trust you will continue to grow spiritually! By way of your example and words many will come to seek and find the Lord. Your experiences have prepared you to help others in need. What a strength the two of you have been for the parents of sweet baby Jacob! With saying that, I do not want you to think that I am suggesting that your precious baby was taken from you for that sole purpose. Only God knows all and at some later time you will also understand and know God's plan and purpose. You are a strong woman Jennifer! It appears (by reading your blog as well as those of your friends and family) that you were the fist of your group to become a mommy. (A mommy you are and a mommy you will forever be!) You will have your time and turn to once again "mother" your precious Lilly! For now you must assist, offer advice and be there for your friends who are first time mommies. What a strength you are. You are a rare, beautiful and special jewel to those around you. Richard and you have shown incredible strength and dignity. I started following your story after my daughter-in-law told me about the passing of Lilly. I am a new Gramma to her four month old baby. My heart aches for Lilly's grandparents as well! The faith and trust by all of you is amazing and wonderful. You have a strong network of family and friends who are believers...what a blessing for you! I am also an NICU nurse who has shared sorrow, grief and sadness with family members who have lost a precious baby to death. Although a temporary separation...... the sorrow is heart wrenching! Know that I care and pray for your family each day. As I snuggle and nuzzle my little grandson I many times give him an extra kiss or two for your precious Lilly. May the Lord continually bless you with comfort and peace. Oh how I wish that I could take away even a small portion of your pain. Thinking and praying for you in Southern California.
