This Mom business is HARD work! More than I ever imagined it would be. It is not tennis lessons and lovely lunches with mimosas like I probably assumed many years ago. I do LOVE my job though and I know it is what God has called me to right now. One of things that can be so difficult when your job title is "Mom" is finding time off. Generally someone needs something from sun up to sun down (and even well beyond). I was really feeling the effects of that with a lot of illness in our house this month.
My sweet husband gave me the whole day off on Sunday to help me re-generate and start fresh this week. It was a truly great day! I started with a cup of coffee that I actually finished and some much needed quiet time, then I watched HGTV while I organized my closet, I went shopping for several hours, and had a lovely outdoor lunch all by myself! Then I had a great pedicure and massage and was finished just in time to come home to a great dinner on the back porch with my family.
I can't even begin to explain the difference it has made in me as a Mom and wife. I have a renewed spirit of excitement and love that my family needs and expects from me. Thank you, Richard, for such a special gift!
What would you do with a day off???
I would do exactly what you did! Shop, eat, spa time...love it all!
ReplyDeleteI would start with church and recharge myself spiritually.
